The sun at Rhodes chapel

The slits of my eyes cringe in pain as I start to feel the scorching hot rays of fire hit my exposed skin. Turning away, my saluted hand flops to my side as my pores begin to cry.

The trees on either side of me bow back-and-fourth, from the sudden light-wind that exhaled from the unknown. Hitting my lumpy spine, I exhale, passing the wind on, as it pushes me forward. I soon felt overwhelmed by the targeting rays, watching me as I travelled alone on a deserted path. I knew I had to find a place to hide.
The coolness of the shade engulfed me with happiness as the green giants that were rooted in place guarded me with their lives. Hidden within the forest was an empty field surrounded by two white buildings. The sounds of instruments flowed from the music department as melodies of pianos’ and distant violins’ united with the tiny birds above.
Soon the smell of fresh green grass, hit my senses, luring me to rest on the forbidden lawn. Angels set my foot down onto the cushioned platform as I stepped onto the bed of earth. A wave of relaxation and peacefulness passed through me as I sighed with relief. As I collapsed to the ground, my eyes focused on the face of St Mary and all the Angels church.
Containing a double-sided staircase, a creamed skin tone and curving doorways, the church, with its additional tower, stood strong and bold. Situated at the point of the roof, was a white marbled figurine of a saint. She looked down upon the bright-blue uniformed labourers slaving away on the lawns around me. Cutting, carrying, throwing and driving away all the imperfections that surrounded her. All who passed her holy door, guarded by three slender pillars, kept there gaze to the ground, obeying the sun’s command.
The music soon fades away as the shadows place there hands over the holy church. The air turns crisp as the globe starts to descend. Students start crawling out from the cracks, filling the lawn with vibrant colours to celebrate the dying heat.
