Island Drifting - A tour of St Lucias paradise

Imagine the majestic peak of the Pitons reaching to the heavens, the splendour of lush rainforests and hypnotising blue waters of the Caribbean just off shore. A volcanic island with the highest point reaching 3,120 feet above sea level. A Eastern Caribbean island not only home to volcanic beaches but reef-diving sites, luxury resorts and fishing villages.

Now imagine experiencing this picturesque island by drifting around its sun-kissed shores which sparkle like the day time stars.

On the 13th November 2019, I stepped onto a multi-hulled watercraft which featured two paralleled hulls of equal size. A blue and yellow striped catamaran with black webbed netting lay under my feet as we drifted into the calm swift sea.

Silence. Pure silence.

First drift. Marigot Bay. A picturesque natural harbour decorated with the yachts of the rich and the powerful, which have small extensions of sand, makes this exceedingly valuable tropical beach a snapshot of paradise. Marigot Bay is home to a luxury spa and marina resort nestled in the western coast of the Caribbean Island 3,75 miles from the Castries.

Slipping into the watery wonders of the deep, the surrounding steep forested hills invites all who meet it to enjoy snorkeling within the bay. Although tourists highly rate Anse Chastanet for the best experience, the bay offers you a chance to see small seahorses around the rocks. These jutting rocks also bring a vibrant variety of fish and coral along the outer edges especially on the north side of the bay.

With an expert captain and crew as your hosts, it allow you to spread out on the deck for some sun and relaxation.

A warm breeze brushes through your hair as your connected with the black netting, listening to the waves break beneath you. The catamaran sails on, cutting through the sea as you drift-drifting further into paradise.
